From the same vineyard as the Ma Douce Chardonnay on the second ridge from the coast in Fort Ross-Seaview, the deep red/ruby 2021 Pinot Noir Coteaux Nobles comes out swinging. Packed with layered aromas of sassafras, framboise, roses, cedar, Asian spice, and coriander, it’s medium to full-bodied and propels through the palate with ripe tannins, a long finish, and a plush feel, although it also retains a more vertical spine of fresh acidity throughout. Drink 2025-2040.

The Wine Independent97 pts

Medium to deep ruby-purple in color, the 2021 Pinot Noir Coteaux Nobles soars from the glass with notes of black raspberries, black cherries, and mulberries followed by nuances of violets, star anise, and garrigue. The full-bodied palate has a solid foundation of firm, fine-grained tannins and well-knit freshness to support the generous black and red berry layers, finishing long with an invigorating tingle of mint tea. Yum!

The 2021 Pinot Noir Côteaux Nobles is a stunner. Bright, floral and beautifully layered in the glass, the 2021 offers up an exotic mix of red/purplish fruit, blood orange, spice, new leather, cedar and mint. This is a wine of restraint, with less opulence than the past, but still plenty of richness. Pretty floral and spice overtones lift the finish.

James Suckling95 pts

So vivid, tangy and energized, this medium-bodied red is stunning to sip and savor. Concentrated, aromatic and well balanced, offering sour cherry, vibrant blueberry, blackcurrant, black tea and wild sage flavors. Firm tannins complement the vivid fruit. Drink or hold.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate94 pts

The 2021 Pinot Noir Coteaux Nobles features a dramatically perfumed nose redolent of ripe cherries and raspberries. Planted to a suitcase selection in the mid 1990s, it's medium to full-bodied, wonderfully silky and generous on the palate, but it tightens up nicely on the finish, reaching a long, crescendo of fruit intensity.

Windy weather during blooming led to a small crop set, then warm dry conditions ripened everything evenly. Small berries and thick skins produced wines of concentration, structure, freshness and purity
