“Deep ruby-purple in the glass, still vibrant at 10 years of age. It is incredibly well-endowed with a plethora of firm, fine-grained, mineral-laced tannins that build on the palate, framing a surprisingly youthful wine with only the subtlest hints of age in its currant and currant jelly fruits. Toasted brown spice notes of coriander, fennel, and sage add complexity. The length is incredible, with vibrant, spicy acidity driving the extended finish. Quite a showing and easily ready for another decade or more of ageing. Aged for 22 months in 70% new French oak. The blend is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, composed of 41% clone 7, 45% clone 4, and 14% clone 337.”

“The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Perseid from Meteor Vineyard comes from a site in Coombsville, in the southern part of the Valley. Its deep purple color is followed by a terrific array of blueberries, spring flowers, violets, and bay leaf. Full-bodied, incredibly elegant, and graceful on the palate, it carries plenty of depth and richness, yet never seems heavy or cumbersome. It’s a classic, charming, perfectly balanced 2014 to enjoy over the coming 15-20 years.”

“The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Perseid is gorgeous. Dark, plum, raspberry jam, cloves, leather, mint and sweet spice are all beautifully delineated in this attractive, mid-weight Cabernet. Soft, silky tannins make the 2014 surprisingly approachable, even in its youth. All the elements are impeccably balanced in a precise, briskly delineated style that is so typical of the year. A long, beautifully persistent finish rounds things out in style.”
