“The 2003 Reserve is in mint condition. Tasted from magnum, the wine soars from the glass with Bordeaux-like nuances of dark cassis fruit, tobacco, violets and olive tapenade, carried by absolutely powerful fine-grained tannins. Leather, dried violets and layers of loamy earth add further depth, while black-tea tannins build on the finish, joined by Earl Grey notes. Savoury, expressive and deeply attractive, this is perfectly aged Napa Cabernet at its best — the kind of wine that makes keeping the corks in the bottle nearly impossible.”
