At 24 years of age, this is utterly exceptional, with gorgeous aromatics of currant, cassis, dried mint, black olive and tobacco, layered with dark chocolate and scorched-earth character. Full-bodied, it still carries impressively robust tannins, alongside succulent tobacco and tomato-leaf notes, graphite, walnut husk and wet slate. With time, spectacular black-truffle and charcuterie nuances emerge, deepening the loamy-earth complexity and carrying through to an exceptionally long finish. A remarkable wine by any measure.”
