“The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Family Reserve is a selection of their finest barrels, or as the back label says, “the most luscious.” This is a broader, richer, more friendly style of wine, tipping the scales at 14.8% alcohol. Rich, with a dense ruby/purple color and loads of crème de cassis, its earthy volcanic notes give it a somewhat Graves-like nuance. Full-bodied, ripe and pure, this is impressive, and while more approachable than the Perseid, still capable of lasting another 15-20 years.”
