“The 2017 Suisassi (100% Syrah) is a total knock-out. A burst of wild cherry, lavender, sage, mint, licorice and cracked black pepper makes a strong opening statement. Bold and dense, with real explosive energy, the 2017 has a lot to offer. There is not much subtlety though. The 2017 was fermented in a combination of terracotta, cask, 600-liter barrels, and open-top barriques. It spent 30-35 days on the skins, with longer macerations in the larger vessels and a bit less time in the smaller barrels. Aging was done in a mix of 22 and 300-liter barrels.”
