“A blend of 40% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 30% Cabernet Franc, the 2020 Clos Albertus is deep garnet-purple in color. It needs a lot of swirling to coax out vibrant notes of freshly crushed blackberries, cassis, and black raspberries, followed by hints of pencil shavings, rose oil, and fallen leaves plus a waft of wild sage. The full-bodied palate is laden with taut, muscular black fruits, framed by ripe, grainy tannins and beautiful tension, finishing long and energetic. This is a very impressive showing!”
